Dutch Apple Pie

This recipe came from Mary Hoehn. She made the best pie - and made the crust from scratch. She would always bake Denny an apple pie anytime he helped them out with some project.

Ingredients

  • Pillsbury Pie crust - in the refrigerator case!! Or if you are brave, you can make homemade crust. Look it up on the internet for the recipe. I have NEVER had any luck with making it myself!

Ready the pie crust in the pie dish as directed.

  • Peel and slice one bag of apples (Honey Crispt or Jonathon or good baking apple)
  •  cup sugar
  • 1 t. cinnamon

Mix together sugar and cinnamon. Place apples in pie dish and sprinkle sugar mixture over apples.

Topping:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • ½ cup butter

Directions

Topping:

Put these ingredients in bowl and mix - cut through with 2 knives in a scissor motion until crumbly. Put on top of apples.

Bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees for another 45 minutes. (May need to bake 10-15 minutes longer depending on oven.)

Cool. Serve warm with ice cream or whip cream.
