Grandma Buswell's Cookies

Ingredients

• 4 eggs
• 1 cup lard
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• ½  tsp salt (not in her recipe, but I added when I made them)
• ½  cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 5 cups flour or more - enough to work the dough so it can be rolled out.

Directions

She mixed this in her bread mixer (old-fashioned to us now) and rolled on her bread board, adding flour so dough wouldn't stick. 

She used a round cookie cutter. 

Baked at 400 in oven of a wood stove.  This made about 6 dozen 2" cookies.  In a few days they would be kind of hard and wonderful with a glass of milk.
