Sour Cream Coffee Cake

This is one of my favorite coffee cakes.

Ingredients

Cake Ingredients: 

  • 1/4 pound butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 cup sour cream (NOT Light)
  • 1 t. vanilla

Topping Ingredients:

  • ½  cup brown sugar
  • ½  cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup nuts

Directions

Directions for cake: 

  1. Cream butter and sugar together.
  2. Add eggs, beat and set aside.
  3. In second bowl, sift flour, soda, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Add to butter mixture alternating with the sour cream (NOT light or reduced calorie sour cream).
  5. Add vanilla and mix.

Topping Directions:

  1. Mix all topping ingredients.
  2. Pour half of cake mixture into greased tube pan or 9×13 pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of the topping mix over the batter in the pan.
  3. Add rest of batter, adding last of the topping on top.
  4. Swirl with knife to mix.

Bake: 350 for 40-45 minutes.
